SCRIPTURE ON THE GO:
SHORT BIBLE STUDIES

Growing up, going to church was always a part of my Sunday routine. I remember waking up early every Sunday morning just so that I wouldn’t miss going to Sunday school. Although I grew up going to church my whole life, like many other Christians, I never understood my faith. Looking back, I was definitely someone who was navigating through my life of faith by my own direction and standard, thinking that it was God’s righteousness. I really knew nothing and I don’t think that I was really a believer because I didn’t have anything concrete to base my life of faith on. Now, because I know my hope and because I finally understand the word, I am able to call myself a true daughter of God.

Have you ever tried to read the Bible and failed? Many people have tried to read all 31,000+ verses in the Bible and failed. The Bible itself can feel very dense and difficult to understand. Listen to today’s Bible Sermon: a brief overview of the Bible to help orientate yourself when reading through the Word.

What is the greatest gift you have ever received? Depending on the individual and the circumstances they have been through, their answers can vary. However, now let’s think about God, our spiritual father who desires the best and only the best for us. God, who is our spiritual parent would want to give us the best, just like our physical parents. Together, let’s dive into what is this gift that God has given us.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed with life? As if you lost your sense of direction? It’s very easy to be caught up with life and be distracted by all the things happening in the world. We get caught up with just living life in motion, like a hamster in a wheel. No matter who we are, we may feel this way. We invite you to take a moment and stop to reflect– even though we may face difficulties in life, we should be thankful that we have the opportunity to learn from every event. Together, let’s stop and listen to God’s voice and hear what wisdom he has to share.

Growing up, what is something that you always wanted to learn how to do? How many years do you think it would take for you to become an expert at it? If we put our effort and time into studying and practicing that skill, imagine how good we would be at it? But if we barely invest time or effort, can we expect ourselves to be at the same level as someone who puts in effort consistently and diligently? Just like in the world there’s a difference between an expert and a novice, spiritually speaking there’s also a difference between someone who invests time diligently in their faith to mature their faith, versus someone who might be in the faith for a long time but does not put as much time and effort as the first person did. So as believers, we need to be able to see the importance of maturing in our faith.

Think back to a time when you were searching for a church. What sort of things were you looking for? While there are many valid criteria for us to look into when choosing a church, what does the Bible say about the correct way to find a church?

What is your passion? The word passion is a noun that is defined as an intense desire or enthusiasm for something. Everyone is passionate about something; some music, a specific art form, and the list go on. I’m sure we all have passions in the world, but what about passion for God? In the world of faith, there are many people that we might also know personally that perhaps also have that same amount of effort and desire and enthusiasm for the Lord that is a passion and Zeal that we as Believers need to also have but to learn from the Bible. But how do we as believers grow in zealousness for the Lord? Join us on our Bible sermon as we find out.

Imagine an individual who could be convicted of first-degree murder, slander, and also led a region-wide search to kill those who were different. We might think that there is no hope for such a person. But imagine that individual going through a complete 180 change. Instead of murdering and slandering is now fighting for the side he once used to target. Is now aiding, helping, and even advancing the cause of the side they used to go against. Sounds a bit unbelievable but that is the life of Apostle Paul.

How can we describe a pure heart? Purity in the definition is the state of not being mixed? The Bible describes those with a pure heart to be like children. We can see whether we have a pure heart or not by their words and actions. When a person is young they are pure and innocent but eventually become mixed with envy and self ambition. If we desire to go to heaven, a place where only the pure in the heart go, let’s learn about how we could become those with a pure heart.

When it comes to our parents’ hopes for us, do we always agree? But what we also need to think about is, when we talk to our parents and begin to understand more of their heart, then we realize why they are somebody that has always wanted the best for us, regardless if we agree or not. So for us today, we’re not going to talk about our relationships with our physical parents, but instead with our spiritual Father, God.
